Course Details
Our Intermediate Traditional Kintsugi Repair workshop is designed for those ready to go deeper into the materials, methods, and meaning behind this beautiful 600-year-old repair practice.
Hosted in our quiet Stoke Newington studio, this day-long course is a chance to immerse yourself in traditional techniques within an intimate setting. Group sizes are even smaller than our beginner sessions (which are already pretty cozy) allowing for plenty of one-on-one guidance throughout the day. You’ll also have the chance to see a wide range of finished repairs—both hybrid and traditional—to help inspire and inform your own work.
The heart of this session is urushi lacquer—a centuries-old material central to both kintsugi and maki-e. You’ll learn how to work with it safely and effectively, while also experimenting with different finishes to create your own line samplers. Our hand-blended French bronze and silver powders will be included, while 24kt gold will be available upon request for an additional fee.
Bring a broken object from home if you'd like, or choose from our selection of beautiful stoneware to restore and take home. Between repair stages, we’ll share practical insights into progressing toward more advanced hybrid and long-form traditional repairs, whether in our studio or your own.
You’ll also receive our 30+ page Kintsugi Repair Guide, packed with home studio setup advice, material safety tips, and a wealth of resources to support your continued journey with traditional kintsugi.
It’s a thoughtful, hands-on day for those who want to slow down, deepen their skills, and connect more closely with this mindful craft.
We are only offering a handful of these sessions this year, so booking ahead is recommended.
Light lunch, tea and snacks will be provided throughout the day.
